The space: open layout, lush greenery, the soft sound of running water - A place where energy flows, not bounces. Inspired by modern Asian aesthetics and built with care, XMMO is designed to soothe both cats and humans. There’s room to breathe. To move slowly. To be fully present in the moment — whether you’re grooming or simply existing alongside animals.

XMMO wasn’t created as a business idea. It was built as a response.

After years working closely with cats — grooming them, caring for them, boarding them — we saw the same problems repeated everywhere: convenience over wellbeing, profit over patience, and cats expected to adapt to systems never designed for them.

So we did things differently.

XMMO was created as a cat-first space, where food follows biology, grooming respects consent, and boarding prioritises emotional safety. We don’t chase volume. We don’t cut corners. And we don’t believe cats should be forced, rushed, or compromised just to fit a booking system.

Everything at XMMO is intentional — from how we feed cats, to how we handle them, to who we choose to work with. If something doesn’t serve the cat, we don’t do it.

Why We Don’t Feed Royal Canin and Why We Make Our Own Food

We don’t hate brands. We just don’t feed them.

Here’s the blunt biology: cats are obligate carnivores — built to eat animal protein, moisture, and fat. Their bodies are not designed to break down high carbohydrates. Yet most dry foods, including big-name brands like Royal Canin, rely heavily on carbs to form kibble. Cats don’t produce the enzymes to digest those carbs efficiently. That’s not diet — that’s compromise.

So we asked:
Why would we take what nature didn’t give them and call it nutrition?
Why would we board a cat and feed them something that isn’t species-appropriate?

We believe food is care. Food is health. Food is dignity.

At XMMO, every meal is made in-house from fresh, human-grade ingredients, rotated between raw and wet cooked recipes that deliver moisture, high-quality protein, and essential nutrients like taurine — the nutrient cats actually need for heart, vision, and muscle function. Taurine doesn’t magically exist in dry pellets. It exists in real meat.

We don’t just cook food. We formulate it — because boarding should continue the kind of nutrition cats thrive on at home, not undermine it.

Why Fear-Free Grooming

At XMMO, grooming philosophy is led by Ben Kim, a master cat groomer with years of hands-on experience and formal certification in fear-free grooming — and it starts with one non-negotiable belief: cats deserve respect, not control.

Ben believes grooming should be a conversation, not a confrontation. Every session begins with observation — reading body language, stress signals, breathing, posture, and tolerance. Cats are not restrained into compliance. They are given time, space, and choice. When a cat is uncomfortable, the pace slows. When a cat says no, we listen.

Cats are highly sensitive animals. Rough handling, scruffing, loud environments, or being forced through a full shave can create lasting trauma. Once that trust is broken, cats don’t forget — they become defensive, fearful, and harder to groom for life. Ben has seen this damage firsthand, and refuses to contribute to it.

That’s why at XMMO:

We groom with consent, not dominance
We stop before stress turns into trauma
We prioritise emotional safety over finishing a haircut
We adjust, shorten, or decline services when needed

Grooming isn’t about getting it done.
It’s about doing it right — for the cat, not the booking.

That’s the standard Ben works by.
